DIBELS
This term is used frequently when discussing a students reading ability and achievements. DIBELS stands for the Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills. The Prairie Central School District uses this standardized test as a quick assessment of students skills. We test grades k-6th district wide three times a year. The most common indicator evaluated during DIBELS testing is oral reading fluency which measures number of words read per minute. After testing the scores are evaluated and decisions regarding curriculum and student interventions are determined.
