Fourteen Prairie Central FCCLA members presented their projects at the National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Washington DC in July. These projects were conducted and completed by the group members as a part of the STAR Event Completion. 88 members from Illinois members competed and were among the 8,000 delegates, Advisers, and chaperones attending the annual event.
Tiffany Antonetti and Savannah Shores received a gold medal and first place in the Central Region, with a chapter record setting score of 99.5%. Among their many safe driving promotions, they taught 395 PCHS students in a safe driving day during PE classes.
Ariel Bohm and Leah Zorn earned a gold medal for their project promoting FCCLA. They conducted FCCLA Week activities, promoted FCCLA at Freshman Orientation and various community events.
Grant Bachtold, Dakota Bazzell, and Kamryn Fehr were awarded a silver medal for their project. They coordinated making blankets for the Caring Pregnancy Center, Salvation Army bell ringing, and a toy drive for Toys for Tots.
Kyah Bazzell and Iris Mendez earned a silver medal for promoting safe driving during Hawkapaluzzo, reading to students at Westview Elementary, and other safe driving activities at PCHS.
Valorie Campbell, Tate Hetherington, and Brittany Rayburn were awarded a silver medal for collecting more than 7,000 items for Operation Santa. They spoke at the community Veteran’s Day Ceremony and promoted the collection for service-personnel throughout the community.
Gretchen Maier and Jacie Martin received a silver medal for conducting a book drive. More than 3,000 books were collected and donated to the education department of The Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.
Accompanying the group to the conference were Jeannea Shier, Adviser, Lauren Schroeder, Adviser, and Kathy and Koryn Fehr.
