Portfolio Guidelines 

In order to write well, you must read well.  To start building your college skills in a minimum amount of time, start reading the syndicated columnists.  The columns take only a few minutes to read, and they pay off in three ways:

1.     You become aware of current issues and debate.

2.     You will build a more sophisticated vocabulary.

3.     You will see how the professionals employ rhetorical strategies.

The Washington Times hosts an extensive list of links to columnists.
