AND DESIGN

This class is designed for the beginning art student,
with an emphasis on two-dimensional work.
Students will learn how to draw forms using
perspective and shading. Assignments will
incorporate the elements and principles of art, to
create still life drawings and landscapes.
Drawing media used will include pencil, charcoal and
computers. Students will develop skills that
will enable them to evaluate and critique
two-dimensional artwork.

Drawing and Painting builds on the skills learned in
Drawing and Design, emphasizing two-dimensional work.
Students will study color and its effective use in a
composition. Assignments will incorporate the
elements and principles of art, to create designs,
still life drawings, and landscapes in various styles
of drawing and painting. Color media used will
be watercolors, tempera and acrylic paint.
Students will continue developing skills that will
enable them to evaluate and critique two-dimensional
artwork.

POTTERY
AND SCULPTURE
(1 nine week term)
Pottery and Sculpture builds on the skills learned in
Drawing and Design, emphasizing three-dimensional
work. Students will study three-dimensional form
and the effective use of the elements and principles
of art in a composition. Pottery methods will
include hand building and wheel throwing.
Sculpture media will be clay, paper, and tooling foil.
Students will develop skills that will enable them to
evaluate and critique three-dimensional artwork.

INTRODUCTION
TO COMPUTER GRAPHICS
(1 nine week term)
DUAL
CREDIT - Introduction
to Computer Graphics will explore using the computer as an art tool for creating
digital drawings, paintings, and photographs. Using the professional computer software,
CorelDraw Graphics Suite, students
will learn essential computer graphics techniques and
apply previously learned design theories to create
computer art projects. The
Corel program includes drawing (vector / object
based) and photo paint (bit map) programs.
Students will, also, develop skills that will
enable them to evaluate and critique computer
generated artwork.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of
Computer Applications or its equivalent.

Advanced
Drawing is designed for the serious art student, and
expands on the skills learned in Drawing & Design
and Drawing & Painting.
Lessons will apply the elements and principles
of art, to create portrait and figure drawing.
Some of the drawing media used will be pencil,
charcoal, and pastels.
Students will continue developing skills that
will enable them to evaluate and critique artwork.
Perquisites:
Drawing & Painting (grade minimum of 86% or
consent of instructor)

ART I
(1 nine week term)
This top level art class opens new opportunities for you to use your
acquired skills and knowledge for artistic expression in creating
portfolio quality artworks. Projects will be two and three-dimensional
using a variety of wet and dry media to broaden your experience as an
artist. Learning from famous works of art will stir your imagination
increasing your own creativity.
*NOTE - TO REDUCE SCHEDULING CONFLICTS THAT MAY PREVENT YOU FROM TAKING
THIS CLASS, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU REGISTER FOR ADVANCED DRAWING
AND ADVANCED ART I DURING THE SAME SCHOOL YEAR.

APPRECIATION

DUAL
CREDIT - This class is
for all students, not just artists!
Earn college credit and learn about art.
Art Appreciation is an introductory exploration
of art, from prehistoric times to the present, in
relation to human society.
Students will become familiar with a large
variety of art forms, styles, and periods.
Art Appreciation will include reading homework,
writing assignments, and no artwork.
