The Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA)
recognized the accomplishments of the Prairie Central wrestling
program as well as other programs throughout the state at its 41st
Annual All-State Banquet held last weekend on April 3rd at the Park
Place Banquet Hall in Countryside.

Students Send
Supplies to Haiti: (3/18/11)
School supplies, personal
items, and soup mixes will be delivered next week to Haitian
families affected by the devastating earthquake. Abby Rinkenberger
and Faith Steidinger, members of Prairie Central FCCLA, coordinated
the project which began in November. Since that time, many FCCLA
members, students at PCHS, and seamstresses have made donations of
items or time to the project. (read

I:n an effort to
make the holiday season brighter for area families, the Prairie
Central FCCLA chapter conducted food and toy drives within the
school and community. The collections netted 522 toys and 1046 food
items.

PCHS Student Recognized for Volunteer Work (3/24/10): Carson Cross, age 18, son of Rita Rich of Fairbury, IL, has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama. PCHS Student Finalist for National Merit Scholarship (2/10/10): Jordan Pilgrim has advanced to Finalist standing in the 55th annual National Merit Scholarship Program of two thousand and ten by demonstrating through distinguished performance high potential for future academic accomplishment. Pilgrim will have the opportunity this spring to compete in the competition for some 8,200 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than 36 million, from a group of more than 15,000 Finalists. Approximately half of the Finalist will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. (read more)
PCHS Teacher Becomes Nationally Board Certified (12/14/09): Teaching excellence in Illinois has taken a major step forward following a recent announcement by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards that Becky Shafer, a mathematics teacher at Prairie Central High School, has achieved National Board Certification in 2009. In September three teams, Dairy products, Agronomy, and Dairy
Judging traveled to
PCHS Student Receives Letter of Commendation for National Merit Scholarship (9/23/10): The principal, Dan Casillas, of Prairie Central High School announced today that Kimberly Wenger has been named a Commended Student in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to this scholastically talented senior.
