English I, II, and III C

    This course places its emphasis on practical English skills for learning, work, recreation, as well as other areas.  This course will also include practical letter writing and functional reading skills.

Math I, II, and III C

    This course places its emphasis on the review and memorization of basic math facts.  Fractions, decimals, percents, and basic computation will also be covered in this curriculum.  Using math in the world of work, budgeting, bank accounts, taxes, basic consumerism and other everyday uses of math will be learned.

Basic Mathematics (2 terms)

Students are guided from understanding whole number and basic arithmetic operations to a mastery of simple algebra and geometry.  Concepts taught will include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions and mixed numbers, decimals, percents, ratios and proportions, graphs and statistics, measurement and metrics.

Prerequisite: Individualized Education Plan
Class level:  9-12
Credit:  1 unit credit

Transitions Pre-Algebra (2 terms)

Students are presented the concepts and skills needed to get ready to take on Algebra I.  Concepts taught will be whole number review, variable expressions and equations, decimals and algebra, factors and multiples, fractions and mixed numbers and adding and subtracting fractions.

Prerequisite:  Individualized Education Plan
Class level:  9-12
Credit:  1 unit credit

Transitions Algebra I (2 terms)

Students are presented the essential concepts and skills necessary for a first year Algebra course.  Concepts taught will be solving equations, linear equations, inequalities, data analysis, exponents and quadratic functions and quadratic equations.

Prerequisite:  Individualized Education Plan
Class level:  9-12
Credit:  1 unit credit

Transitions Geometry (2 terms)

Students are presented the skills needed to succeed in real-world applications that link geometry to life.  Concepts taught are basic geometry, angles, reasoning and proofs, perpendicular and parallel lines, triangles, perimeter and area, quadrilaterals and polygons, circles, surface area and volume, coordinate geometry and transformations and right angle trigonometry.

Credit:  1 unit credit

Community Based Class I

    The emphasis for this course includes skill development within 5 domains, functional academics, vocational, community, recreation/leisure, and domestic.  Students' curriculum is individually planned, based on Individualized Educational Plans.  Skills developed within this course include basic reading, functional reading (job applications, newspaper, etc.), basic math, computer, and other skills as they relate to the 5 domains.

Community Based Class II

    The emphasis for this course includes the 5 domains of Community-Based Program I, with students' curriculum being individually planned based on the Individualized Educational Plans.  The learning activities within this course build on the learning skills in Community-Based Program I with further application of the five content domains completed within this course.

Community Based Class III

    The emphasis for this course is based on the 5 domains of Community-Based Class I.  Student's curriculum is individually planned based on Individualized Educational Plans.  Students continue to develop skills in basic reading, functional reading, basic math, computer skills and vocational training skills.
