Band (4 terms - T, Th, alternate F)

   The instrumental music student is provided the opportunities to perform before audiences while developing musical skills on wind or percussion instruments in marching and concert bands. A keen sense of musical value and cooperation is created within the group. Optional areas of participation are offered in pep band, jazz band and individual instruction.

Class Level: 9-12
Credit: 1 credit per year



Treble Choir (4 terms - M, W, or T, Th, alternate F)

   Choir is designed to heighten one's musical ability and the ability to function as a member of an ensemble. The student will develop skill in reading music, producing quality sound, and healthy vocal function. Ample opportunity to perform before audiences is provided in this chorus setting.

Class Level: 9-12 (females not enrolled in band)
Credit: 1 credit per year



Concert Choir (4 terms - M, W, alternate F)

   Choir is designed to heighten one's musical ability to function as a member of an ensemble. The student will develop skill in reading music, producing quality sound, and healthy vocal function. Ample opportunity to perform before audiences is provided in this chorus setting.

Prerequisite: Treble Choir
Class Level: 9-12 (all males and females enrolled in band)
Credit: 1 credit per year



Music Appreciation (1 term)

   Music appreciation offers students the opportunity to explore music from a listener's position. Students will experience music from the sixth century to the present day rock and avant-garde music.

Class Level: 9-12
Credit: 1/2 unit credit



Music Theory (1 term)

   Music theory is the study of the elements of music. Students will learn analysis and compositional techniques as well as exercises in ear training and sight singing.

Prerequisite: Band, Choir, or consent of instructor
Class Level: 9-12
Credit: 1/2 unit credit
