Do you have someone special you are thinking about this Valentine’s Day?  If you are,  why not send them a Secret Heart Magnet.  The cost is $2.00 and you have 6 options to choose from.  Magnets will be delivered during 1st Block to your secret Valentines locker on Feb. 14th. Magnets may be purchased during lunch starting Wed. Jan. 24th and sales will end on Friday, Feb. 10th.  Money is due at time of purchase.  Thank you for supporting the Community Based Classrooms.

A reminder to seniors that all scholarships must be turned in to the Guidance Office at least 5 working days before the due date in order to be guaranteed that they are mailed out by the deadline.  With March 1st being a deadline for many scholarships, all scholarships that have a March 1st due date must be turned in to the Guidance Office no later than Thursday, February 23rd in order to guarantee that they are mailed out by March 1st.  Also, seniors are responsible for mailing the Karnes Scholarship by March 1st.  Seniors will need to request a transcript for this scholarship by February 23rd in order to guarantee that they receive this transcript back in a sealed envelope before March 1st.  Any seniors that have questions about this procedure should stop by the Guidance Office ASAP  

Any Junior who might be interested in participating in the I.C.E. program next year must attend an informational meeting during Activity Period.   Attend this meeting even if you are not sure about your plans next year.  Important information will be shared and you will not be allowed in the program if your application is not received by the deadline. 

There will be a Junior Class meeting today in the Big Gym to review the Compass test with Parkland College.  

Attention Juniors:  Ms Egleton and Mr. Quinn will be holding a College Information Night for Juniors and their Parents on Tuesday, February 7th from 7:30 – 8:30 pm in the High School library.  Information on post-secondary schooling will be presented.  There will be a question and answer session following the presentation.  If you have any questions, be sure to see counselor.  

Student Senate Members:  There will be meeting during Activity Period on Thursday in Mrs. Pilgrim’s room.  If you are unable to attend, please let Mrs. Pilgrim know today.  

S/V Girls Basketball vs. Central Catholic at home at 6:00 pm Tonight is Sr. Night. 

Congratulations to the sophomore girls’ basketball team who defeated Peoria Christian by a score of 49-42.  With the win, the Hawks improve to 12-8 on the season.  Leading scorers for the team were Anna Hassett with 19 points and Liz Walter with 10 points.  

There will be a FCA meeting in Mr. Dunahee’s room on Friday, Feb. 7th at 7:30 am and all are welcome.

The Junior class is selling glow in the dark bracelets with the slogan SAVE A LIFE…DON’T TEXT & DRIVE for $3.   AT &T has launched a national campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of texting and driving among teenage drivers.
