After reading books and successfully passing the Accelerated Reader test, Westview Elementary School students have provided reviews of these books.

Giants Don't Go Snowboarding, by Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thornton JonesThis book is about three kids. That are going to take snowboarding lessons. They think their snowboarding teacher is a giant when they see him. Do you think the Bailey School Kids are going to just not care that he is a giant? The Baily School kids are going to find out. If you want to see if he is a giant read this book to find out!!!! DS

Vampire Baby by Marcia Thornton,3.8.  This book that I'm going to tell you about is called Vampire Baby. There are three kids in it, and the next door neighbors are weird . They have a cousin that is a vampire. Read it. It's good!  BN

SEA MONSTERS DON'T RIDE MOTORCYCLES.  Do you want to read a really good book? Well then, the book SEA MONSTERS DON'T RIDE MOTORCYCLES is just the book you need! This story is about four friends named Liza, Melody, Howie, and Eddie. Eddie's grandma takes Eddie and his friends to SHELDON CITY MOTORCYCLE RACE and they meet a pretty weird motorcycle racer. If you want to find out what happens next you have to check out the book ! LJ

Cryptid Hunters by Roland Smith.  I think that everyone should read Cryptid Hunters. This book is about thirteen-year-old twins, Grace and Marty, and Uncle Wolfe. It is a breathtaking but sad story! JNS

***The Meanest Doll in the World by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin. A.R level 4.6 and 5 points. In this book, The Meanest Doll in the World, you will find two girls get in a lot of trouble. They meet the meanest doll in the world and find a way to defeat her. The only way you will find out what happens at the end is if you read the book! SNS

****Duck On A BikeDavid Shannon2.0This book has a duck an a bike. He rides past other animals on a bike. The animals thought he was a silly. This is a funny book you will want to read it and find what is at the end. KEH

****Danny and the Dinosaur. Syd Sydhhoff.  2.3  Danny liked dinosaurs. He went to the museum and saw a real dinosaur. Danny and the dinosaur went around town together. NAS

*Froggy plays in the Band.  Jonathan London2.2  Froggy and the band played music and marched in a contest. They had to practice and practice and practice and practice. Read and see what happens next. NAC

****If You Give A Mouse A CookieLaura Joffe Numeroff2.7If you give a mouse a cookie, he will ask for a glass of milk. Then he’ll need a straw to drink the milk. He is going to ask for napkin  and many other things. You will want to read the story so you know how the story ends.  BJB

***The Very Busy Day by Diana Hendry. 2.6  Little mouse and big mouse have a very busy day doing hard work.  Big mouse wants little mouse to help him work and little mouse was working all along.  crw

****FRANKLIN Birthday. Paulette Bourgeois2.7  Franklin’s Birthday party was coming up so he was going to the park with his friends, but he could only take 2 friends. So he made his own park.  TSH

****Bear Wants MoreKarma Wilson2.2In this book there is a big hungry bear. He ate too much and can’t even get in his home. At the end of the book bear’s friends planned a spring party for the big bear. Bear ate strawberries and clover, but he still wanted more.  ANC

****Wild, Wild, Wolves.  Joyce Milton2.3In this book you can learn that when wolves are angry, they just wag the tips of their tails. When wolves are sad, they put their ears down. When they’re happy, they wag their whole tail. Wolves have been known to save people.MMS

****Clifford’s Halloween. Norman Bridwell. Level 1.8, Today is Emily Elizabeth’s favorite day. Today is Clifford’s favorite day too. Clifford was a ghost and Emily was a pirate. Clifford wanted to play a game. Clifford won the game. Emily said next year, ‘’I am going to be a princess." trd

****Clifford's First Snow DayNorman BridwellLevel 1.7  It is winter. Emily tells about Clifford's first snow day. He had fun but he got into trouble. People helped save him. trd

****THE BIG HONEY HUNT.  Stanley and Janice Berenstain.  Level 1.7The big papa bear and his son went hunting for honey . They looked for a honey tree. At first they couldn't find one, but when they did, the bees got mad. The bears had to jump into the lake to get away. Later, they went to the honey store and bought the honey. bjb

****Biscuit.  Alyssa Satin Capucilli.  Level: 1.4. Biscuit is a little yellow dog. He gets a treat and a drink before he goes to bed. Then he listens to a story and gets tucked in. He wants a light left on , but he gets out of his bed and goes to the girl's room to sleep. anc

****Ghost Soldier. Elaine Marie Alphin. A.R. Level: 5.2  The main characters were, Louise, Alexander, Alexander’s father, Mrs. Hambrick, Nicole, Carleton and Rich. The setting was in the present and the past. Alexander helped a ghost named Rich to find his family that he was looking for. Alexander helped Rich by using his computer and by area museums. DJS.

****Wolfmen Don’t Hula DanceDebbie Dadey and Marcia Thornton JonesA.R. Level 4.1Eddie, Liza, Howie, and Melody were third graders going on a trip to Camp Lone Wolf. At camp, they found a wolfman dancer they saw at a school assembly. His name was Harry. He had a cursed belt that made him a wolfman. Eddie accidentally helps break the wolfman’s curse.  SAS

**** The Miserable Mill.  Lemony SnicketA.R. Level: 6.2Violet, Sunny, and Klaus are three kids who were sent to work in a lumber mill. What they didn't know was that Count Olaf was after them.   Count Olaf arranged for Klaus to be hypnotized. Klaus was running the stamp when Phil, a worker at the mill, tripped and fell in front of the stamp. Phil broke his leg. When Klaus came to, he didn't remember what had happened. When Sir came in to see what was going on, he found Count Olaf and his partner and captured them. He called Mr. Poe, the law enforcement agent. They locked Count Olaf in the library, but he took a book and whipped it at a window. The window broke and he escaped. AWB

Grandfather's Journey. Allen SayGrandfather's Journey is a story about the authors grandfather. Grandfather was raised in Japan. When he came to America he experienced many exciting and wonderful things, but he still missed Japan, so when he grew up he returned to his homeland. This book shows how America and Japan are similar and how they are different. I enjoyed this book. I hope you read it sometime.A.R.

*****  The Slippery Slope. Lemony SnicketA.R level 7.1This story is about how Count Olaf [the bad guy] kidnappes Sunny Baudelairle who is just a baby and how he makes her be his slave. Count Olaf is also trying to kill Sunny's siblings, Klaus and Violet. Only they find Sunny and escape from Count Olaf down a river.  A.C.R.

Grandfather's Journey. Allen SayI don't really care for this book because it is confusing. It is confusing because people are going back and forth from Japan to California. Another thing I don't like about this story is, it doesn't have very much action, and I like action. I don't recommend you read this book. T.H.

The Doll People. Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin.. I like the book called The Doll People. I is about an a live doll thats name is Annabelle. Her Auntie Sarah has been missing for 45 years. You don't know what is going to happen until the very end. I recommend that you read this book! TM

****The Boxcar Children-THE MYSTERY IN SAN FRANCISCO. Gertrude Chandler Warner. 3.2. The main characters is Benny,Violet, Jessie, and Henry. The setting take a place at San Francisco. The problem is that someone had untied the boat and it floated away. In the end they find a broken piece of lantern glass. They find two women who know who did it. It was the next neighbor, Joe. GR

* * * *Two Little Goldfish. Jenny Giles. 2.7.  First there were two little goldfish named Speedy and Zip. They were playing hide and seek. Zip swam into a pirate ship and came out the other side. Speedy found Zip, then Speedy got caught in a fishing net. Then the fish fell into another tank and played. I loved this book because I love fish. LRP

* * * *  Staying Alive .Jenny Feely. 2.4  This book is about many animals that are food. These animals, like seals, deer, kangaroos, and toads, find ways to stay alive. To also stay alive some animals use poison, bluff, blend in and amour. Animals that may be eaten by predators find many different ways to survive. I loved this book!!!  LRP

 Ginger Pye. . First Jerry wondered if their cat would be jealous if they got a puppy. The puppy was worth 1 dollar. Then Jerry and his sister Rachel were asked to dust the pews in the church by Sam Doody and if they did he would give them a dollar. They were so happy that they would get a dollar so they could buy the puppy. After they dusted they got their new puppy. In the middle of the story when they were eating Thanks Giving dinner Jerry had to put Ginger (their puppy) outside. While they were eating some one stole Ginger. At the end of the story Jerry and Rachel's 3 year old uncle named Uncle Bennie found Ginger. mc
