Cancellations, Delays, or Dismissals

Winter has come early! Due to the continued snow and gusty winds, all Prairie Central schools will be releasing two hours early today, November 11, 2019. Additionally, there will be NO afternoon preschool and ECSE classes. Also, the Veteran’s Day program at Prairie Central High School is postponed until tomorrow at its regularly scheduled time. We hope all veterans have a chance to attend the event so we can show our appreciation in honoring you for your service. Again, all Prairie Central schools will let out two hours early today, with no afternoon pre-K and ECSE classes. Please drive safely.

Automated Calling

Re: Automated (mass) Calling

The automated calling service for school cancellations or alerts can be quite convenient and helpful but, unfortunately, it is not without its flaws. In the event of inclement weather, please check local TV, radio, and this website for notices regarding school cancellations or delays. When an early-morning cancellation or delay is announced, only one (1) phone number will be called per student. This number is typically your home phone number. Only in emergencies (an unscheduled early-out once the school day has started, for instance) will multiple contacts be called. If you are routinely missing calls, please communicate with your child’s school to make certain the correct phone number is listed as your child’s primary number.

Thank you!
