About Our District

Prairie Central CUSD #8 is a sprawling district made up of over 1700 students, 6 schools, and 286 square miles.  We have schools located in Chatsworth, Forrest, Fairbury, and Chenoa, and also educate students from Strawn, Wing, Weston, Cropsey, and Meadows.  We believe the strength of our district lies in our dedicated staff, from our café workers and custodians to our educational staff and administrative team. Our motto “Working Together for Every Student, Every Mind, Every Day” is truly what we do, and we value each and every employee for the role they play in the education of our children.

So whether you want to work directly with students, feed them a meal, drive them to school, keep their buildings safe and clean, or manage the logistics of our schools, we hope you will choose to join our family of employees. It’s ALWAYS a great day to be a Hawk!

Meet Our Staff!

Teacher with students

Rachel Bond

The reason I enjoy working for Prairie Central is the support the district showed me when it came to my maternity leaves.  Instead of making decisions to sacrifice the care of my family, or the job that I love, I was able to do both.

Emily Wenger
5th & 6th Grade Interventionist

I love working at PC because of the students! I enjoy getting to know students when they are in fifth and sixth grade and then seeing them at events and around the community as they get older. PC is a wonderful place to be!

Junior High Social Studies teacher and CARES Clowns sponsor

I love teaching at Prairie Central Junior High because we are a family! We work together for our students, and we have fun doing it. I am a Prairie Central graduate and lifelong PC resident, and I know firsthand the impact our staff has on our students and how our district graduates students who are ready to excel in college and beyond. Together with families, we build students who we hope will be responsible, contributing members of our society. Some days are harder than others, for sure, but we have such a supportive staff that even the harder days are better with your family working with you. It's always a great day to be a Hawk!
