At our Special Board Meeting on September 11, 2025, the Prairie Central Board of Education agreed to a land exchange which would allow the footprint of our new elementary building to have direct access to 7th street.  Not only does this provide the district street access, but also would allow for our new elementary school to be adjacent from the new Boys and Girls Club in Fairbury.  The resolution provides the district with a rectangular plot of 61.870 acres along 7th street for our current and future long term projects.  We anticipate breaking ground on a portion of this parcel this spring and the remaining undeveloped property will be cash-rented out for farming.  A public announcement detailing the cash rent bidding process will be made once the boundaries of the land to be rented are established.

The land exchange process has been ongoing since the passing of the referendum on April 1st but since the Board has approved the exchange we are able to share the overall schematic design that includes the site plan off of 7th street.  Please remember that this is a schematic design.  The finer details become more apparent in the design development stage which began this past month.  As more information becomes available we will be sure to communicate this with our Prairie Central Community.  Please click HERE to access the full schematic design.

Have a great week!
