Jase, a 7th grader, was nominated by Coach Scheulin, who wrote, "I chose Jase for Track and Field Athlete of the Week because he consistently goes above and beyond in everything he does. Not only does he work hard to improve his own performance but also he takes the time to support those around him. I recently caught him helping new students at high jump, offering guidance and encouragement without being asked. Jase has also taken several of our 6th grade athletes under his wing, both boys and girls, making sure they feel included, confident, and supported. He leads by example every day, showing what it means to be a dedicated athlete and a great teammate. His leadership, kindness, and willingness to help others make a lasting impact on our program. We’re proud to have him on our team!" Jase is also involved in Band, Speech Team, and Basketball.

Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Koltyn Fehr!

Koltyn, an 8th grader, was nominated by Mrs. Kratochvil, who wrote, "Koltyn stands out from his peers as a student who always does excellent work. He is already knowledgeable about American history, and he shares that knowledge and insights within our daily class discussions. Koltyn goes beyond the simple comprehension and digs deeper to help his classmates understand the why in history and how the why has impacted future events in our American story. Koltyn's classmates recognize his effort and intelligence as he leads by example and by encouraging his peers to be their best. I'm certain that Koltyn has a bright future ahead!" Last week, Prairie Central Primary West Students and Prairie Central Upper Elementary 6th-grade students celebrated EARTH DAY together in Chenoa! Over 250 students worked together to learn environmental stewardship to beautify the Earth.

Thank you, Prairie Central School Board (Innovative Educator's Grant), Livingston County Environmental Association (Earth Day Grant), and U of I Extension office for supporting an amazing celebration! Students planted 3 trees, played a recycle vs. trash game, created recycled art out of a plastic bottle, made soil beanie babies, assembled a pinwheel, read some Earth Day books, and played a math game! Finally, we took a walk in the Chenoa community to pick up trash! It was a beautiful day to take action in our community.
