Happy Holidays from Prairie Central Elementary!

The 8th grade math classes continue to build their roller coasters.

Today, at approximately 11:25am, an emergency evacuation took place at PCE due to smoke detection in the multi-purpose (gym/cafeteria) room. All students and staff safely evacuated to a location outside the building, and Fairbury Fire Department responded. It was determined that the smoke was caused by a fault in the heating system in that location. After determining that the building was again safe, the fire department gave the “all clear” for students and staff to re-enter and resume usual activities. All students and staff were safe during this incident.
Thank you to the Fairbury Fire Department for their quick response, and to the Prairie Central Elementary staff for the remarkable job they did keeping students calm, orderly, and safe during the evacuation. We are truly blessed

Kassi was nominated by Coach Pick, who wrote, "Kassi has shown leadership on the cheer team from the very first day! She has brought experience to our team that has been very valuable. Always a team player, Kassi has taught new cheers, provided an excellent base for our stunts, and is always ready to suggest new and better ways of doing things. Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Luan Issleb!
Luan is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and is the child of Kyle Issleb, Jennifer Applebee, and Jillian Brown. Luan was nominated by Mrs. Vogel, who wrote, “Luan is an active learner and a hard worker that gives 100% on every activity and assignment. She is prepared for class instruction and asks great questions to further her understanding of the material. Although Luan is quiet by nature, she is great at self-advocating. If she doesn’t understand something, she doesn’t hesitate to seek advice or assistance. This demonstrates a maturity that few jr. high students have. Luan’s strong language skills and avid reading truly show her love of the written word. She plans to pursue writing in her future.” Luan also participates in the Art Guild.
