Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Collin Kilgus!
Collin is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and is the son of Matt and Jenna Kilgus. Collin was nominated by Wrestling Coach Webster, who wrote, "Collin placed 2nd in his 29 man bracket with a 3-1 record, 3 pins and lost 4-3 in the finals to a state ranked opponent, at the Bloomington JH Tournament on Jan. 6 . Collin has shown hard work and great leadership all year long in the wrestling room as well as the classroom." Collin is also involved in football and FFA.

The JH Volleyball game scheduled for tonight, January 22 against St Mary's has been CANCELLED.
Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Ariel Valdez!
Ariel is a 13-year-old 8th grader from Forrest, and is the son of Ignacio and Cynthia Valdez. Ariel was nominated by Ms. Schmidt, who wrote, "Ariel has been friendly, kind, and helpful to students and teachers. He always has a smile and is personable. He is a great example of what a Prairie Central student should be." Ariel also enjoys running and is involved in the soccer league.

With the cold and snow we have been inside for recess. Primary East First graders were getting very creative with our inside recess toys.




Congratulations to Shane OBrien on being selected as the Upper Elementary's student of the week. Shane is a 5th grader in Mrs. McBride's class. He is a brilliant student and great citizen. We can count on Shane to spark class discussions with a genuine love for learning. Shane is also a great athlete who plays soccer outside of school. Keep up the great work, Shane!

If you are getting tired of being cooped up and looking for something to do tonight, the PCHS JV/Varsity boys basketball games vs SJO scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, January 16 are still on as scheduled. JV starting at 5:30pm, followed by varsity. The heat is on in the gym, come out and support the Hawks!

The PCHS wrestling meet at Streator for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, has been CANCELED. There will not be a makeup date for this meet.
All Prairie Central schools are closed tomorrow, January 16th due to dangerously low wind chills. All morning activities are canceled. Watch our website for more information on night activities as the day progresses.

The PCHS JV/V girls basketball games at Monticello and Freshman boys basketball home game vs Rantoul have been CANCELED for today, Monday, January 15, due to travel concerns with the low temperatures. Dates for reschedule will be passed along once they are set.
The Illini Prairie Conference wrestling tournament has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 17 at 4:30pm at Tolono Unity.
The PCHS JV/Varsity Boys Basketball game vs Rantoul scheduled for tonight, Friday, Jan. 12, has been CANCELED. The game has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 16 at PCHS.
Due to the winter weather advisory, please see the attached information on the rescheduling of the PC youth cheer camp.

All Prairie Central schools are cancelled today, Friday, January 12th due to winter weather conditions.
The PCHS JV/Varsity boys basketball games scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Morton, have been CANCELED. All other PCHS after school practices will still take place as scheduled.
Tonight's Junior High Volleyball game at Fieldcrest has been CANCELLED.
PCHS JV/Varsity girls basketball at SJO for tonight, Monday, January 8th, has been changed to a 5pm start time for the JV game. The JV game will also have shortened quarters. The varsity game will follow the JV game and will have normal length quarters. The bus will now leave at 2:45pm.
Tonight's Junior High Volleyball game against Tri-Point has been moved up and will start at 5:00pm.

Mrs. Sattler's 7th grade Social Studies groups were tasked with creating their own talk show over the three branches of government, and then presenting it to the class. They had to create their own questions and then research the answers.






PCPE kindergartens had a craft day with a special guest this week. They traveled to eight stations including a cookie station.
