Connecting to our study of World War II and the Holocaust in ELA and Social Studies, eighth graders visited the Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie on Tuesday. Visitors enter through the dark doors and exit through the light doors to signify this dark time in world history and how we learn to make choices to not let history repeat itself. We also listened to a Holocaust survivor tell her story as she fled Nazi Germany in 1939 when she was only four years old. We learned that we can all be upstanders and treat everyone with kindness!
