Hello PCE Families!- Beginning, Monday August 30th, if your student is a car pick-up student at the end of the day, we are asking that you put a sign in your passenger side window to allow staff to quickly and clearly see which student(s) are being picked up. This will help with the efficiency of the car pick-up line. Signs will be provided by your student’s classroom teacher. If you have more than one student in the car pick-up line, please place a sign for each student. Signs will be on colored paper with your student’s first and last name in big bold letters. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or the PCE office. Thank you.

The Jr. High softball and baseball games in Lexington this evening, August 24th, have been moved to a 5:45pm start time for both teams. Each team will be playing one game. A bus will pick up athletes and take them to Lexington at the following times and locations below. Chenoa - 4:30 High School - 4:15 Jr. High - 4:00 Chatsworth - 3:45

PLEASE NOTE: As per our reopening plan, all Prairie Central schools will release TWO hours early through September 3rd. If additional heat release days are needed, you will be notified of this through our regular communication methods.

The USDA will be extending their free breakfast and lunch program to all students for the 2021-22 school year. While you do not have to apply to be eligible for this program, we still need you to fill out the application for free and reduced meals if you think that your family would qualify. This application also will help determine if you are eligible to receive other benefits such as reduced registration fees, and determines funding for our schools to provide additional programs. If you have any questions, contact the Food Service Director Susan Cavazos at 815-692-2115.

Last night at the board meeting, our Return to Learn plan passed. We will have 2 hour early release days till Labor day and after that we will go week by week. With that being said, we will be going to A/B days for preschol. There will only be AM sessions ( 8:15am - 11am) MWF - will be our PM preschool kids T/TH - will be our AM preschool kids. We will use this scheudle until we go back to our normal days. I will keep you guys posted!

The Prairie Central Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, August 16th at 7:00 to approve a "Reopening" plan for the 2021-22 school year. The meeting will be held at the Fairbury Baptist Church, at 701 N Seventh Street in Fairbury.

PCJH Open House Date Clarification. Tuesday, August 17th from 5:00pm -7:00pm for incoming 7th grade and NEW 8th grade students and their parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to come. Please refer to the schedule mailed to your home and arrive as close as possible to your scheduled time. See you there!

Your Infinite Campus Parent Portal has access to your child’s teacher today! Once you find out who their teacher is, please sign up for a time to come and meet them! We are excited to offer an open house this year for our students to return for the school year. We are aware that the district has not finalized our Return to Learn Plan for the 2021-2022 school year. Until that plan is formally approved, we will need to follow the current guidance that has been established by the State of Illinois. We understand that the wearing or not wearing masks elicits emotions but our hope is that our focus for this evening is on our students. We want your child’s first school year experience to be positive and our hope is that we can go through our evening without any unwanted conflict. Please have masks to wear in the building for the open house and we are happy to provide masks for those who need one to enter the building. We are looking forward to the upcoming school year! There will be an Open House on Tuesday, August 17th from 5-7pm for all 7th graders and new 8th graders. Families will be assigned a designated time to attend. Schedules and more information about Open House will be mailed out next week. In addition, we've had a lot of questions concerning P.E. uniforms. Uniforms are available and can be purchased through the school. More information will be sent home the first week of school.
