Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Ryder Maurer!
Ryder, an 8th grader, was nominated by Mrs. Stadnik, who wrote, "Ryder has been selected as Student of the Week for consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to excellence in math. He serves as a role model in the classroom, staying focused, showing respect and working in groups. Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Carder Weeks!
Carder, a 7th grader, was nominated by Coach Scheulin, who wrote, "I chose this athlete because I have seen him be such a great leader for everyone on the track team. The 5th and 6th graders always look up to him! They even ask to be in his group for workouts and warmups. One 5th grader even stated "I want to be like Carder!" Attention PC Seniors, Graduates and parents, are you aware that there is a scholarship opportunity for those of you who will be or currently are attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign? The Donald and Millie Joda Scholarship is open to any PC Senior or Graduate that will be or currently is attending the U of I. Over the last couple of years, there have been very few applicants for this award. The scholarship committee would like to see more interest, which is why we are reaching out to all of the Prairie Central community. Use the attached link to access the application.

Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Penelope Issleb!
Penelope, a 7th grader, was nominated by Ms. Weighley, who wrote, "Penelope consistently goes above and beyond to advocate for herself in math class. She is diligent about her understanding of our math lessons, comes to see me during her study hall when she needs help or to make up lessons when absent, and has been observed helping other students' understanding when working in groups or with a partner. Penelope participates in our class discussions and group activities and can be counted on to always be on-task in class. Penelope has a pleasant personality and has been a delight to have in class this year. I look forward to following her successes! Penelope wants to be a teacher! Possibly of younger students around the 3rd or 4th grade level." Penelope is involved in choir and art guild.

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Ryan Evans!
Ryan, a 7th grader, was nominated by Mr. Grant, who wrote, "In his first year of Scholastic Bowl, Ryan has proven to be a strong leader and a great teammate. As a 7th grader, Ryan has been eager and willing to act as captain of the team. While he is sometimes unable to do this during matches, he has acted as one during practices and has helped during matches with strategy for the team’s acting captain. Ryan has been extremely supportive of his teammates and has encouraged the team during matches. He has also provided a lot of fun laughs and enjoyment during practices that his coach and teammates greatly appreciate.
Finally, Ryan is a great example of the strong link between his participation in extracurriculars to academic achievement. Mr. Grant has Ryan in his social studies class and has witnessed those qualities and his strong work ethic, leadership, and strong social skills. Ryan has also taken on a leadership role in the Student Council and is a participant in Jazz Band. His contributions have helped make PCJH a better place." Ryan is also involved in Jazz Band and Student Council.
