Mrs. Lawrence's science classes are taking a quiz today on matter and energy in earth's systems. Being comfortable is a key to success!




Mrs. Pollard's ELA classes are using a different approach to using context clues to identify a nonsense word in a sentence puzzle. Today's word was norpul!


Mrs. Medina's 5th grade ELA classes are honing their context clue skills by listening to the book "Morning on the Lake".


Mrs. McBride's5th grade math classes are hunting for Pokemath problems to solve!




The monthly PC Athletic Booster Club meeting will be tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7 pm in the PCHS library. Anyone interested is welcome to attend!

Coach Ziller is starting an Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation team. This is for boys and girls K-8. Practices will start during the week of November 6th, but the official first practice is TBD. There will be an informational meeting on Thursday Oct. 12, 6pm-7pm in the high school library. For the Share The Wealth in 8th Grade Agriculture last Friday we had a couple visitors. Share The Wealth is a 10-minute presentation that each student in the Ag classes do once during the class. Blake Brown did his presentation on the different uses and breeds of sheep and brought one in as his visual aid. Later on, Cadyn Price brought in her bearded dragon and told the class about the animal and its care.






Last night, PCJH hosted their annual Parent-Teacher Connection, where students and their families were invited to join the staff in getting to know each other. Each department set up a station, many with games and prizes!











In 8th grade Graphic Design, we are studying posters, poster types, and how to appeal to a specific audience. The class broke up into 3 groups, competing in a Jeopardy style game to show off their knowledge. The winning team, pictured below, managed to collect 5,000 points!


Congratulations to PCJH Student of the Week, Ismael Camargo!
Ismael is a 12-year-old 7th grader from Chatsworth, and the son of Antonia Rodriquez & Ismael Camargo. Ismael was nominated by Mrs. Hamlin, who writes, "Ismael is an outstanding role model for other students in ELA. He always demonstrates his ability to follow classroom rules as well as follow directions. Ismael remains on task during instructional time and puts forth great effort on his assignments. He volunteers frequently during instructional time and contributes to classroom discussions. I love having him in class and that smile of his lights up our room!" Ismael plays the trombone in the school band, and his dream is to become a doctor.


Congratulations to PCJH Athlete of the Week, Cadyn Pride!
Cadyn is a 13-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and the daughter of Bruce and Amber Pride. Cadyn was nominated by Coach Meister, who writes, "Cadyn caught nearly all the varsity innings this Fall and did a phenomenal job, recording the second highest fielding percentage and the most putouts on the team. She also excelled at the plate, finishing second in on base percentage and third in batting average. Catcher is a physically demanding position and Cadyn took the pounding and was one of the leaders on the team!" Cadyn also participates in basketball, volleyball and track.


PCJH Student Council has added Happy Cart distribution to their service activities, and they need your help with securing items. The happy cart has little treats for the staff of our building. Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Zylar Roberts!
Zylar is a 12-year-old 7th grader from Fairbury, and is the son of Stephanie Hamm (of Fairbury) and Brandon Roberts (of Bourbonnais). Zylar was nominated by Mrs. Folwell, who writes: "Zylar is a new student to the district and has transitioned well into math class this year. He is polite and has a smile on his face during class. Zylar participates with effort in our activities and agrees to help whenever asked. I'm excited to follow Zylar through his education, as he has so many great aspirations. I'm enjoying getting to know Zylar. Zylar plays percussion in band at PCJH. He also enjoys playing video games, listening to music, drawing, and the martial arts. Zylar wants to be a video game designer."


Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Jace Bauman!
Jace is a 13-year-old 7th grader from Fairbury, and is the son of Chad Bauman & Leslie Cherveny. Jace was nominated by Coach Whitfill, who wrote: "Jace stepped right in as a 7th grader to be a leader on the team, be that a quiet leader, he leads by example. Primarily playing first base, Jace is a coachable player that always has a smile on his face. I can always count on Jace to work hard and do whatever is asked of him. I look forward to seeing Jace grow and improve as an 8th grader. With his attitude and work ethic I have no doubt Jace will be successful both on and off the field in the future." Jace also participates in travel baseball, basketball & youth group.


The PCHS F/JV/V volleyball games vs Olympia, scheduled for today, Tuesday, September 12, will be played at Olympia Middle School, 911 E 800 North Rd, Stanford, IL 61774, starting at 5 PM.
