Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Payton Steffen! Payton, a 7th grader, was nominated by Ms. Pacheco, who wrote, "Payton is a great example of what I look for in a student. He participates in class discussions, providing thoughtful responses and being brave enough to give his best guess even if it might be wrong. Payton also works well with others, though quiet, he is an active participant in group work. He is polite and kind to both peers and staff and is respectful to others, property, and himself."

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Kinlee Steffen! Kinlee, an 8th grader, was nominated by Mr. Cheek who wrote, "Kinlee has been a fantastic leader for the choir this year. She is not afraid to ask questions to help her section and the choir gain better understanding of notes and rhythms that might be missed. Kinlee comes into choir everyday with a smile and a love for life that gives a great energy to the ensemble." Kinlee is also involved in Softball, Student Council, and Band.

Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Leah Reimer! Leah, a 7th grader, was nominated by Mrs. Vogel, who wrote, "Leah's positive attitude, great work ethic, and willingness to help others makes her a valuable classmate. She leads by example and always gives 100% while learning new skills. She gives classmates help in developing their skills and encourages them to try their best. Leah is an outstanding student and a pleasure to teach." Leah is involved in Student Council, CARES Clowns, Choir, and Scholastic Bowl, and plans to attend school to be a neurosurgeon.

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Mason McCulloh! Mason, an 8th grader, was nominated by Coach Underwood, who wrote, "Mason shows great leadership to the other teammates and uplifts everyone." Mason also participates in basketball.

PCJH 8th grade science students have been learning about the metric system, measuring length, volume, temperature, mass, and density. Students hypothesized how 5 different liquids would layer based on their densities. Students also predicted where a cherry tomato 🍅 would end up once dropped in!

The Illini Prairie Conference golf meet has been POSTPONED to tomorrow, Wednesday, September 25, starting at 10 AM and will be played at the U of I Blue Course.
