PCE has had so much fun welcoming students to school the last couple weeks. Happy Last Day of School!

Mrs. Davis led our 7th grade math classes in creating their own carnival games, incorporating math skills such as probability and fractions, as other students visited to test and play.

Thanks to all the local presenters that made the annual Upper Elementary Discovery Day a success! Shout out to Deb Ruff, Brand's Tae Kwon Do, Kent Casson, PC FFA, Becky Bounds, Matt Cribbett, Matt Curl, Macey Vaughn, Liv. Co. Humane Society, Hillary Blackwell and Matt Wilhelm. The students enjoyed hearing about your passion!

Every Friday since March, the fourth graders have assisted Mr. Lee in raising the flag at PCE. They have learned the origins of the flag, raising and lowering procedures, and other historical facts. Today, all fourth grade students received a flag and recited the pledge together for the last Friday of the school year.

Ms. McArdle and her 8th grade students at PCJH would love to thank Chenoa Meat Locker for their donation of Beef Eyes! It was a wonderful way to end our unit on electromagnetic waves and how the eye works!

PCE students and staff were able to congratulate our Prairie Central Class of 2023 this morning with a graduation walk! Best wishes in all of your future plans!

Congratulations to these 11 seniors who earned Seal of Biliteracy awards in English and Spanish! With the Global and State Seal credentials, students can earn college credit and scholarships, and increase their earning potential with future employers! Grasshoppers and Ladybugs and Ants– Oh My! On May 18th, PCE’s 2nd graders embarked on a journey through Fugate Woods courtesy of a Biodiversity Field Trip Grant from the Illinois DNR. Students explored the hiking trails in Fugate Woods, learned about the different types of plants and animals found throughout our state, drew what they saw in nature, and recorded their field trip experiences in their very own Nature Journal. This field trip is the culminating activity for Mrs. Fehr’s and Mrs. Small’s joint art and research unit about insects.

The last day for senior attendance is today, May 19th. Baccalaureate will be held for the graduates at the First Baptist Church at 7pm on Sunday, May 21. Students should arrive at the church at 6:45 pm with their graduation gowns. As of now, there is no rain in the forecast for next week so graduation practice will be on Thursday, May 25th after we finish our graduation walk at Prairie Central Elementary. If your student is walking in the graduation ceremony, they must attend graduation practice! Before graduation practice, seniors will meet at Prairie Central Elementary for a graduation walk for our younger students. Students will need to be at Prairie Central Elementary no later than 8 am. After the graduation walk, we will come back to the high school for graduation practice. LifeTouch will be here to take graduation pictures and the senior class photo during graduation practice. This senior class was the winner of our 2023 Class Cup. The reward for winning will be a lunch provided by Pizza By Marchelloni after graduation practice.
