National Honor Society had its 2024 candlelight induction ceremony, March 5th. Nine new members were sworn in: Griffin Campbell, Morgan Collins, Kyah Creek, Abrah Cuttrell, Addison Huber, Reese Mueller, Andrew Rieck, Natalie Stoller, and Julianne Woodrey. Lydia Kilgus and Samantha Slagel (absent at the ceremony) were sworn in at the National Honor Society meeting March 6th. Prairie Central NHS is thrilled to welcome these eleven new members!

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Shannon McGrouary!
Shannon is a 13-year-old 7th grader from Chenoa, and is the daughter of Debra and Timothy McGrouary. Shannon was nominated by Coach Ropp, who wrote, "Shannon has really grown in her volleyball skills and knowledge during this season. She was very eager and willing to learn new positions on the court and put in the time and effort during both practices and games. Shannon did a great job of playing the back row, especially during the last 3 games. She hustled on the court, was an accurate passer, one of my most consistent servers and I'm not sure there wasn't a time throughout the season that she didn't have a smile on her face." Shannon is also involved in Choir and Track in school. She likes to travel, especially to South Carolina, and enjoys creating science type projects like Slime.

Colter is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Forrest, and is the son of Chris and Laura Kerber. Colter was nominated by Ms. Hornickel, who wrote, "Colter comes to class every day with a positive attitude ready to learn. He is always one of the first to volunteer to work out a problem and willing to explain to his peers if they are not understanding the Math content. Colter is a model student when it comes to advocating for his education. When he is unsure of content he is learning, he takes the time to come in during his study hall to get extra help. He takes ownership in learning and encourages his peers to do the same." Colter is also involved in football, basketball, track and FFA.

Congratulations to the Upper Elementary 5th grade Student of the Week, Isaiah Kaskavage. Isaiah is an example for all to follow. Isaiah has a compassionate heart, he always extends a helping hand to classmates in need. His positive attitude is infectious, spreading optimism and encouragement throughout the classroom. Most of all he can be trusted, and Ms. Hoffman greatly appreciates that! When not in school he takes part in Awana and football. He enjoys attending the First Baptist Church in Fairbury.
Congratulations to the Upper Elementary 6th grade student of the week, Ellie Grant! Ellie is a dedicated student to have in class. She is kind to her classmates and always has a smile on her face. Ellie is hardworking and will help others with compassion whenever needed. She puts her best effort into everything she does.
"Congrats to this week's (WCIA Athlete of the Week) winner Prairie Central wrestler Chloe Hoselton. The junior won the girls wrestling state title at 235 pounds with a 2-1 win in double overtime. Hoselton finished her season with a 19-3 record and also excels in the classroom, with a 3.8 GPA. She's a World of Wrestling Trinity Award Winner, Fargo All American (3rd place), 2x freestyle state champ, folkstyle nationals runner up and 15u girls wrestler of the year 2023."
